When you first join Canine you will pick a name for your service dog, you will be able to pick any name you want but the K-9 Lead must approve it.
This is to make sure people don’t pick any inappropriate/duplicate names.
Off duty you will not be able to interact/Roleplay with your service dog, this is to stop people from abusing the capabilities of the dog.
You must treat your animal with respect at all times, the dog isn’t just a service animal, it is your partner and friend and you will always treat it that way.
If your dog does something good (e.g. finds drugs, weapons, etc) you will give your dog a positive reaction to encourage this behavior. You will always ensure the safety of your dog.
As a handler, it is your responsibility to provide your canine with any care it needs, be this exercise, veterinary care, love, and attention etc.
You must provide your canine with Food, Water, and sufficient exercise.
If your Canine is injured in the course of duty, it is your job to provide aid as soon as it is safe to do so (Using the K-9 Trauma kit) and then transport them appropriately to a veterinary facility for emergency medical attention.
When on active patrol you should be the only one making contact with your K-9. Other officers should not interfere with your duties unless specifically instructed.
If someone is riding in your vehicle for whatever reason they are to follow your instructions specifically, and should not do anything other than what you say. If they break your guidance you are entitled to verbally command them to leave your vehicle.
If at any point the handler is unable to delegate clear commands to the K-9 it will stand guard over its handler until aid arrives. At this time no one else is to interfere with the K-9 until the aid is being given
